Can we turn this around as a community?
What I feel is fair to say:
- Sokhor does not feel like a victim (come on, let's not go so far to say this is a stockholm syndrome.. seriously)
- The bonus room has been going on for quite awhile before this event.
- Without the attention it has gotten, CCP wouldn't have to fear for bad press and take extreme action.
- Erotica 1 may of gone too far this time.
Scamming spying and all the dirty things are a part of EVE, carebear or not I think we can all agree on that. These things all take part of the meta game as much as they do in the actual game. I feel that if Erotica 1 was actually warned by CCP and/or asked to stop, he would of gladly done so if they felt it was truly bad for the game.
However much you hate Erotica 1 or feel what a sadistic person he is, we all know he is playing the scammer character to some extend and to be honest he represents that part of community fairly well, he is one of the bigger names who represent that side and it would be a little sad to see that go, we all know there is some roleplaying element here.
I don't actually know if Erotica 1's ban is permanent, but surely we can give the guy another chance, and not let the darker side of EVE's community die? |

It's a difficult line to cross when META gaming is such a big part of EVE, you can't deny this.
All I'm saying is, surely we can find deep in our hearts somewhere to forgive Erotica 1, like said in the OP I truly believe that Erotica 1 would stop the bonus room if CCP requested that to be done, and perhaps even take it down a notch in general.
I hate to create the 10000's thread regarding this, but hey I think he should be allowed to play the game, just like you and me, after all we're all going to disagree with each other but IMO that doesn't mean we should put the banhammer down so quickly, what ever happened to a gentle conversation (out-of-character)?

Okay angry Timmy Sprinkles, I appreciate what you've said and noted, now I would appreciate it even more if you could leave some space for others to put down their thoughts regarding the subject, 'yes Erotica 1 is wrong but are we really so bitter that we can't allow the poor guy to play again? Without warning?'.
Keep the trolling in your own hypocrite thread that would be great, you've voiced your opinion now. |

4. Everyone for allowing the Meta game to rule and actually get someone banned.
5. Everyone again for not being clever enough to take out grievances IN GAME rather than running to blogs and forums.

Lets be REAL....The guy crossed the line he was awarded his punishment and nothing we can do about it but LEARN from his mistake. It's just that simple.
I appreciate what you say and you're most likely right, I just can't help but feel that a full out ban might not actually be necessary to learn this mistake, Erotica 1 is a pretty reasonable guy after all if you catch him not in his scammer character.
PS can you guys drop the off topic stuff or go on with your usual arguing about whos a lawyer, who isn't and how sick the bonus room really is in the main thread?  Point of this is the bonus room is gone and will stay long gone. |

Yes, honourable route.. your options are much better than trying to have a decent discussion (on a discussion forum none the less) whether a permanent ban should be applied ( forget how the bonus room and your opinions of that it shouldnt be in eve - CCP have spoken it won't, that's not what I'm trying to reach at ).

what you have to accept is that no company can allow their product to be used as a weapon to abuse their customers.
I completely agree, but again defending my case in terms of a permanent ban, it's very mixed messages if a CSM member who actually ridicules another EVE player in real life gets a 30 day ban, and another one gets a permanent ban for something which in my eyes is a lot less worse that happened over a virtual teamspeak server.. where the victim could defend themselves and take choices that would of changed the outcome. How do you feel about that in particular?
Troll Disclaimer: Again I don't actually know if Erotica 1 has a permanent ban, just wondering a man's vision regarding this. |
